What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is inspired, accurate, authoritative and applicable to our modern world and everyday lives.

We believe in the one eternal God who created all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy. Our sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives, but God, in his infinite love, desires a relationship with his creation. Jesus Christ, being fully God and fully man, is the only way of restoring that relationship with God. Jesus lived a perfect life to die on the cross in our place. He rose again in victory over sin and reigns with God in heaven.

To receive this forgiveness and ‘new life’ we must turn away from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives. Eternal life is the reward for all who take this step. We believe that Jesus is coming back again as He promised.

We believe that God has empowered us by his Holy Spirit so that we can achieve His purpose for our lives, which is to worship God and serve the community in which we live.

Our School

Parkes Christian School was founded in 1982 by Christian parents to assist them to bring their children up in a loving and caring environment.

The school is located in a rural setting on the outskirts of Parkes and is governed by a Board which is responsible for the direction and the philosophy of the school. The Board comprises representatives of Parkes Community Church – the founding church – school and community representatives.

Our Leadership Team

The Leadership team is currently made up of a group of Church partners who have been elected by the Church congregation as Elders. Currently, the Church is looking at options of employing a Pastor.

Church is not an organisation you join; it is a family where you belong, a home where you are loved and a hospital where you find healing.

Nicky Gumbel

For where two or three are gathered in My name (meeting together as My followers), I am there among them.

Matthew 18:20

Jesus loves us with fidelity, purity, constancy an passion, no matter how imperfect we are.

Stormie Omartian

But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.

Romans 5:8

How much are you worth? Jesus says, with his arms stretched out on the cross, “I’m willing to die for you, because you mean this much to me.”

Rick Warren

When Jesus died on the cross, so did your sin; when He rose from the dead, so did your HOPE.

Max Lucado

God has enough grace to solve every dilemma you face, wipe every tear you cry, and answer every question you ask.

Max Lucado

When we sin and mess up our lives, we find that God doesn’t go off and leave us – He enters into our trouble and saves us.

Eugene Peterson

The life of faith is a daily exploration of the constant and countless ways in which God’s grace and love are experienced.

Church FAQs

Many questions get asked by visitors to the church, newcomers to town, and friends and neighbours of our members. Here’s a list of questions that may help you get to know Parkes Community Church better.

What time is your Sunday worship service?

We have one worship service at 10:00 am, held in the Parkes Christian School Hall. All are welcome to participate!

What do you offer for teenagers?

A youth group is held fortnightly on a Friday night for high school aged teenagers. Our youth have loads of fun with different activities such as playing sport, games, socialising together and learning more about God’s love.

What do you offer for children on Sunday morning?

Children from Kinder to Year 6 move out to their own Kids Church Program after the worship portion of the Sunday Service is complete.

What do you offer for babies and toddlers?

A crèche is available for little ones where they will be looked after while their parents enjoy the service.

Who goes to your church?

We have quite a mixture of people at Parkes Community Church. Our congregation truly spans the ages, from babies to folks in their 80s. But even more important than the kind of people who go here is the kind of people who are welcome here – everyone!

Do I have to belong to your denomination to attend?

Not at all! In fact, many in our congregation come from a church background other than the Parkes Community Church.

What kind of things do you do in your worship service?

We strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere at Parkes Community Church. We greet each other so everyone feels welcomed; we share announcements and church news; we sing together; we share the congregation’s joys and concerns and lift them to God in prayer; we read the Bible and listen to the sermon; we receive an offering to further God’s work; and we take communion fortnightly together. After the service, we spend some time catching up with each other over morning tea. All are welcome to participate.

Who are your ministers?

We are currently working towards employing a pastor.

What kind of outreach is the church involved in?

Parkes Christian School is our main outreach into the community. We also support Pastor Tui in Fiji in his prison ministry and the Chamberlains in Hong Kong.

Why I Love My Church

I love my church as it is a genuine place for healing the broken-hearted. It is also such a generous group of believers and an amazing community to bring up my family in.
Mandy

It is a great church of strong, faithful Christians. It is also a tight, loving community group and a fantastic place for myself and my family to have been brought up in. Youth group is a great place to hang out and enjoy with my friends where I can bring them and talk about God freely and play some fun games.
Jesse

Since becoming part of this church family I have grown so much from the teaching. The love, caring and generosity are ever forwarded to all family members in word, action, deeds and love.
Sue

We are very blessed to be a part of Parkes Community Church, so thankful for the wonderful church home it's been for us and our family.
John & Cathy

I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
